What are the elements involved in building, exploiting and maintaining a successful brand? Over the course of my career, I’ve acquired a great deal of insight into this.
It’s very important to select a name that somehow ‘presents’ the proposition you offer, possibly supported by a payoff. You also need to clearly define a ‘philosophy’ behind the brand that will appeal to a specific group of people. Establishing clear differentiation between what you offer compared to (potential) competitors also increases the chance of success. And in recent years, people are increasingly expecting an element of social responsibility from their preferred brands.
