” Teachers open the door, but you yourself must go through it ” – Chinese saying
In China, the art of natural medicine has been developed and refined over thousands of years, while remaining virtually unknown in the west. The Chinese – the oldest and largest civilization still in existence – have always lived very close to nature. And many intelligent thinkers in the society learned a great deal from their observations over the millennia, recording and sharing their findings.
The result was an unprecedented degree of insight into mankind, and its relationship with the natural cycles and phenomenon around us and the relationship between the two. Out of this knowledge, an ancient school of medicine was born – and refined over the centuries – that has lost none of its power or effectiveness.
In today’s technology-driven world, we tend to automatically break everything down into components. Physical health, relationships, work – we view and tackle issues in different areas of our lives in isolated ways. Western medicine offers no framework in which we can view the complete individual, whether healthy or ill.
Chinese medicine does. It provides a complex, but well founded, medical matrix in which you can connect physical, mental, emotional, genetic and environmental factors – and address them. And although many people may dismiss therapies such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, and TuiNa massage, I believe they are very valuable.
